SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE Announce New Singer
January 11, 2004SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE, a multi-musical phenomenon with various influences ranging from progressive to post rock, extreme metal and even epic doom, have confirmed that NOVEMBERS DOOM singer Paul Kuhr will contribute vocals to their debut CD, "Temporary Psychotic State".
Founding member Tomer Pink commented on the addition: "I am honored that Paul agreed to offer his talents and participate in the recordings. I've always liked his work and couldn't be happier with the way he handled the vocals. It was quite challenging as it required varied ranges from lush harmonized clean vocals to raging death/black — but Paul got it all!"
A two-track EP (containing over 15 minutes of music) that is being described in an official press release as "a homage to progressive rock a la KING CRIMSON, with modern post rock passages and early PINK FLOYD psychedelic moments, all wrapped in layers of orchestral arrangements that give the recording a thick and artistic sound," "Temporary Psychotic State" has now been fully recorded and next week it will enter the final mixing stages. Travis Smith is also finishing up the artwork. The CD is tentatively scheduled to be released via The End Records in April.
SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE's first recording, a cover version of the PETER MURPHY classic "Cuts You Up", featured guest appearances by Tomas Lindberg (ex-AT THE GATES, THE CROWN),Kobi Farhi of ORPHANED LAND and guitarist Dory of ETERNAL GRAY. The cover song, which was recorded in 2000, was featured on a compilation CD of the same name and received rave responses worldwide.
